We who preach the gospel must not think of ourselves as public relations agents sent to establish good will between Christ and the world. We must not imagine ourselves commissioned to make Christ acceptable to big business, the press, the world of sports or modern education. We are not diplomats but prophets, and our message is not a compromise but an ultimatum. A.W. Tozer
Therefore let God-inspired Scripture decide between us; and on whichever side be found doctrines in harmony with the word of God, in favor of that side will be cast the vote of truth. --Basil of Caesarea
Once you learn to discern, there's no going back. You will begin to spot the lie everywhere it appears.

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service. 1 Timothy 1:12

Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies

It's that time again, but you may ask why we apologists report about the false teaching and false teachers -- TO EXPOSE THE WOLVES!

The Polemics Report has coined some terms to describe new heresies.  Some are just new “technical” words for well-know heresies (such as Word of Faith), but I found these to be worthwhile:
Theoerosism — “erotic love for God.”
Vinism — Gay theology

The “Code” used by Steven Furtick and his goat-pen, Elevation Church.  I wonder if they even know what the Bible is?  H/T to one of my readers for pointing me to this article.

You can’t make this stuff up.  Be sure to read all the way through to see even the stuff about Lisa Bevere.

The Pope continually proves he has no clue about the Christian faith or the things of God, as he kowtows to all the LEFTIST ideology.  There is no evidence than man can do anything to change our climate, yet he has bought into all the leftist talking points and has declared it a sin against God.  If you aren’t an environmentalist, you are sinning according to him.  The Pope teaches the social gospel on top of the heretical Catholic doctrines.  Of course promoting all the LEFTIST ideologies just helps promote the one-world religion.

Mother Teresa is now a Catholic saint — but was she a saved Christian?  Sadly, the answer has to be, “no.”

Listen to false teacher Ed Young talk about how you need to tithe.  I’m still trying to find where he gets his support without twisting Scripture.

Andy Stanley — Again.  He really needs to get another job.  Here is another excellent review of this sermon.

A troubling situation developing with the joining of two cultic groups.

I’ve previously addressed the fact that Jeremiah 29:11 does not apply to the Christian, rather it was about Israel and only Israel.  Many people have discounted my article because I’m not a lettered theologian.  Okay, so let’s hear Gregory Kouki say pretty much the same thing I’ve said and perhaps people will finally accept the truth.

More proof that the “Church by the Glades” is nothing more than a goat-pen full of self-worshipping goats.

More proof that the ELCA denomination is totally apostate.

Just a reminder that there is a good site exposing the dangerous false teachings of “Adventures in Missions” and “The World Race,” as well as the leader Seth Barnes.  If you’re like me and never heard of this stuff before, get the word out to those who need to know.

The Seventh-day Adventists don’t like the idea of hell, so they’ve erased it from their “Bible.

Skip Moen, one of the movers and shakers of the Hebrews Roots Movement, denies the Trinity.

A good article about what has happened to the Church since the “emergent” movement began, which just added to the already corrupt social gospel.  He even names some of the vicious wolves.

It’s a nightmare — Perry Noble says he’s coming back to being a vicious wolf!  (I disagree that he is an “alcoholic” or suffers from “alcoholism” — this malady was invented to take responsibility away from the individual by calling it an illness.  The Bible calls it drunkenness.)

Hard to believe people aren't quickly corrected on Jer. 29:11. It "applies" to Christians in that God makes and keeps great promises and predicts the future accurately, but just scanning Jer. 29 shows that the specific promise was to the exiled Israelites - and mainly their descendants. After all, the promise wasn't fulfilled for 70 YEARS. I pretty sure those claiming this promise expect faster results.

And notably, if people actually read chapter 28, they'd see that the false prophets said the exile would only be 2 years. In a sense Jeremiah gave them bad news..

Good roundup. The information on A Stanley is getting increasingly concerning by the day. Especially for churches that use his materials for SS or Bible studies.

One thing that struck me... you said, "Many people have discounted my article [on Jer 29:11] because I’m not a lettered theologian." That is very unfortunate. Christians are often guilty of celebrity thinking. Many believers only listen when the "lettered theologians" speak. But the Holy Spirit indwells all saints, and often uses those of no repute to confound the wise.

Believers should heed the truth regardless if it is spoken by a Christian who is a "lettered theologian" or an "uneducated/untrained man" (Acts 4:13).

The sad thing about the Stanley incident is that Frank Turek is defending him, explaining away the obvious problems!! Turek is an excellent apologist and should know better.

There have been many times I've been told I lack credentials, including this week with a UMC layman teacher. I sort of threw it back at him and asked if he was so credentialed, then why did he continue as a member of an apostate denomination which support homosexuality, abortion, social gospel, women pastors, etc.

The question about my "credentials" is what led me to write this article six years ago:
https://watchmansbagpipes.blogspot.com/2010/01/what-about-my-apologetics.html

My point is as yours -- being "lettered" doesn't give anyone special authority to understand the Scriptures. EVERY Christian should be an apologist.

I always grieve when decent teachers "support" unreliable/compromised teachers.

Good comeback to the UMC detractor. Isn't it interesting that some will use "credentials" as a show of superiority? You're correct that being "lettered" doesn't give anyone special authority!

Mother Teresa has once stated:

“There is only one God and He is God to all; therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God. I’ve always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Catholic become a better Catholic.”

Does that sound like a Christian????
